Most students do the course on their own. However, some students who have limited reading skill prefer to have a tutor help them. We like to help those students and so give them a tutor.
But as it does take time for our tutor there is an extra charge. Should you want to discuss this click on this link And give us your email address and telephone number and that you would like a tutor to help you. We will contact you to set up an appointment to discuss this.
Yes. At this stage we do not put date limitations to complete the course. However, we may in the future.
Definitely. If your English reading is not good, then your English spelling is also likely to be poor. We suggest before you start the course, you ask a friend (who is a good reader) to help you. That person can explain what you do not understand. It is likely that you will not have to use much of your friend’s time.
A major component of the course is correct pronunciation, and our reading app. Along with your improved spelling, these will improve your reading skill.
We do not like putting time frames to the course as it creates unwelcome competition to complete it quickly. We want students to take their time, to enjoy the course, and gain the maximum benefit from it. However, to give you an idea, most students take around thirty-five hours to complete the twenty lessons to a level of competence. Yet, we have had some students who are really keen to extract all benefit from it, and follow every suggestion, such as in Extra Mastery lessons and the Basic Grammar.
As with everything, the more a student put into E-S, the more they will get from it.
We feel that nine is about the youngest age, but only with your supervision/guidance. A child of twelve is likely to be able to do most of the course but with occasional guidance.
We have many adults do the course, and you are never too old to learn!
It will, and it should give you a break from teaching them, with only your occasional support. And, the free Extra Mastery pages will also help them. You will find that our reading app will helptheir reading skill.
Good question. Jenny Lamond certainly tried to make spelling interesting. Students tell us that the way she developed the ‘detective steps’ and using multi-sensory methods (seeing, hearing and feeling), and the way she filled it with her lovely and clever humour, they have liked it.
If you can read these questions and answers, you will easily be able to do the course. Just take your time and enjoy it. And, in the course we give you methods (through your Decoding Book) to be able to continue learning more difficult words into the future. You will find that the given pronunciations will also help you. Good luck.
Yes it will as we include a free basic grammar course, which will help you. It is basic grammar but it will give you a head start.
We believe it will help. We have a lot of information on the pages, Dyslexic and Learning Disabilities, and also on the Jenny Lamond page (see the top of the page).
If these do not answer your questions, you are welcome to contact us.
It is likely to because; currently, if a company receives an application from a potential employee, and if that application has a few spelling mistakes, then it is likely that the application will go directly into the wastepaper-bin. Once you have completed the course, and done the complimentary basic grammar, your application is likely to be of an acceptable standard.
For you there will be added benefit with the pronunciation methods we offer. This means you will say more words correctly and with less of an accent.
It will. In the course we have about sixty audios (voice instruction) that will help you learn to pronounce (say better) the words and sounds correctly. It will also show you how to pronounce many words.
A course Completion Certificate is offered (for downloading and printing) to students who have completed all aspects of the course.
We have many adults (students) mastering their spelling with E-S. Many, when filling out the course appraisal (at the end of the course) say they were not taught how to sound out English words or had no idea of the embarrassment caused by mixing UK and USA spelling. We are certain E-S will help your staff because we have had excellent results with people where English is not their main language.
Indeed it will. And what is more, we teach methodologies that can stay with her all her life, whereby using the methods she will be able to keep mastering new words with the most difficult spelling. If she loves spelling, which she seems to, she will enjoy the E-S method.
It will. But if you have more than two or three students, you will need a large screen so show it in. Then, under your supervision, leading the class, you can work through the Activities.
Or, each student can have his/her own login and work on his/her own (either at school or home). You would be on hand to guide the student when required. The benefit of this last method is that each student can be given a course mark.
Under supervision, children as young at nine can learn. Usually, children from thirteen can do it on their own. And it leads into more sophisticated learning methods, so it can go up to academic level.
Absolutely. Your English seems fine, and so under your supervision and 'leading' those students they will learn to spell well. By the end of the course, they will be better readers. For those students who are reasonable English readers, they will be able to work on their own with only occasional direction from you. However, because they can read basic English, it does not mean they are proficient spellers. They will be delighted with their quick improvement.
Their English accents will also improve with our pronunciation instruction.
We do offer site licenses for schools, universities and corporations that have many students. For larger organisations who take on a site license, we offer free training and support. If you contact us (which you utalise for your students), we can devise a solution for your organisation.
We are based in Australia. Australia has six states and two territories, all with their own specific requirements. Additionally, E-S is available in over one hundred countries, all with their own requirements. For us to keep up to date with the rigorous requirements from so many authorities would be too time consuming. If you are an educational body (or teacher) and want to test our course before recommending it to your students, please click on the below contact form and request several free course vouchers, as ‘using is believing’.
We are happy to discuss this with you.
It does. In each lesson there are interactive activities that they must complete before going to the next activity. Students do not have access to future activities before they have completed previous (lead-up) activities. However, they can return and rework previously completed Activities for revision or reference.
The last thing a student does for the course is the Final Assessment. There are in the region of fifty questions, covering all the patterns that the course taught. This final assessment is obligatory, and all questions must be answered before a result is given. The result is percentage based.
If you have a question that is not covered from the above, please click here, and ask your question and we will get back to you within forty-eight hours.
